University West’s student Shuyu Bai, from China, was appointed to this year’s Global Swede at a ceremony in Stockholm on the 18th of May.

Global Swede is a ceremony to acknowledge foreign students and their importance as ambassadors for Sweden. About twenty international students from different universities are appointed every year.

This year’s Global Swede (for University West) went to Shuyu Bai, student at the Master programme IT and Management. Shuyu has demonstrated a great commitment in her studies. She has also been working to design and improve a prototype for language support in Swedish for immigrants, among other things.

Oscar Stenström, the Swedish Secretary of State, and Annika Rembe, the Director General at the Swedish Institute, hosted the ceremony in Stockholm.
